Danny Mills believes the Premier League bigwigs would easily prefer to have Leeds United over Burnley in the top tier of English football.

Leeds have made a solid start to the season under Marcelo Bielsa and are currently at the top of the Championship table on eleven points from five league games.

Whites fans are again giving fire to the hope of their side returning to the top tier of English football and there is confidence that Bielsa will be the man to take them back there.

The Leeds manager has sought to put a lid on the expectations of the fans, but Mills admits that a club of their size belong amongst the big boys in the Premier League.

And he feels if given a choice, the Premier League would any day take a club of Leeds’ size in the top tier over a team such as Burnley.

The former White told LUTV: “Everyone talks about Leeds being a Premier League club that need to be back in the Premier League – and it does.

“I think that they need to be.

"I think the people in the Premier League, this would upset Burnley fans, would they swap Leeds for Burnley? Of course they would, without a shadow of a doubt.

“But you have got to earn the right to get there.

“Once Leeds get back in the Premier League, they will be staying there for some time.”

Burnley finished seventh in the Premier League last season with Sean Dyche earning rave reviews for overachieving with a small group of players assembled for a fraction of most Premier League squads.
