Sweden national team manager Stefan Pettersson has admitted there is little the country can do to force Manchester United's Victor Lindelof to speak to the media.

Lindelof, along with Sweden team-mate and Roma goalkeeper Robin Olsen, did not speak to the media in the mixed zone, ahead of the UEFA Nations League clash with Turkey on Monday.

Olsen and the Manchester United defender requested not to have to speak to the press and Pettersson says there is little Sweden can do.

Lindelof also avoided the Swedish media during the World Cup in Russia.

"They asked to be out of this gathering and we cannot force them to join, even if we want everyone to be available", Pettersson was quoted as saying by the Helsingborg Dagblad.

Asked why the pair did not want to speak, Pettersson replied: "We do not want to go into that now.

"If we talk about this in the group, it will focus on the wrong things.

"We will evaluate this after the get together."

Lindelof has been heavily criticised for his poor form with Manchester United this season, amid a lacklustre campaign so far for the Red Devils.

Olsen meanwhile earned a move to Roma to replace Alisson, sold to Liverpool, earlier this summer.
