Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has told critics of Germany coach Joachim Low to lay off the criticism and backed the 2014 World Cup winners to bounce back.

Germany were expected to put in a strong defence of their crown in Russia earlier this summer, but finished bottom of Group F to crash out of the tournament.

Low has been blasted by critics amid the fallout over the early World Cup exit, but Klopp has dubbed the criticism crazy.

Klopp was quoted as saying by French outlet Maxifoot: "No, the critics are not right.

"When I see how the media and the entire nation have handled this, it's crazy!

"The coach was forced to explain. He was asked to explain football to a whole nation.

"It's been 100 years that we've been trying to explain football and nobody's done it.

"We must calm down, leave them alone and I swear that Germany will come back", the Liverpool manager added.

Klopp has regularly been tipped as a future Germany coach and could be a strong contender for the post when Low, who has been in charge of the national team since 2006, makes way.

Low's Germany side drew their 0-0 UEFA Nations League opener 0-0 with world champions France last week, while they are next in action against Peru in a friendly clash.
