Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur linked midfielder Adrien Rabiot has been calm about negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain over a new deal.

The 23-year-old midfielder grabbed headlines in the summer when he rejected being part of France’s standby list for the World Cup in Russia.

The Frenchman, who has entered the last year of his contract with PSG, was linked with a move away from the Parisians all summer, but he stayed put in the French capital.

Rabiot has played each minute of PSG’s games this season and has been in great form, which has tied the club’s hands when it comes to forcing him to sign a new deal.

PSG supremo Nasser Al-Khelaifi is personally overseeing the negotiations over a new deal with Rabiot, but according to French sports daily L’Equipe, the midfielder is in no rush to sign on fresh terms.

The midfielder is aware of his importance in Thomas Tuchel’s squad this season and has been maintaining his calm regarding his future at the club.

Rabiot is keen to see how PSG improve in the Champions League this season before agreeing to sign a new long-term deal with French champions.

The 23-year-old will be free to negotiate a pre-contract with clubs outside in France in January and PSG are aware that they need to convince him to sign a new deal as soon as possible.

Tottenham have been regularly linked with an interest in him, while of late Liverpool have been mooted as suitors.
