Lazar Markovic will have to significantly readjust his salary demands if a move from Liverpool to Anderlecht is to be brought back to life in the January transfer window.

Anderlecht had Markovic on loan for six months in the second half of last season and then agreed a fee with Liverpool for a permanent transfer on deadline day this summer.

The Belgian giants were prepared to pay Liverpool £2.9m for Markovic and the winger flew to Belgium to complete the move.

It collapsed though amid suggestions he would not lower his wage demands, while Markovic then denied money scuppered the switch.

It has now been claimed that the move could be back on in the January window, with Markovic continuing to be out of favour under Jurgen Klopp.

However, if a deal is to go through, Markovic will have to rethink his financial demands, according to Belgian outlet Voetbal Krant.

Markovic is now into the final year of his contract at Liverpool and it remains to be seen what fee the Reds would be looking for in January.

Liverpool snapped up the Serbian in the summer of 2014 from Portuguese giants Benfica.
