Manchester City midfielder David Silva has expressed his desire to play for his local team Las Palmas after his contract at the Etihad expires in 2020.

Silva, who joined the Premier League champions in 2010, has been a major driving force behind their success in recent years and has already established himself as one of the greatest players to have ever graced the Premier League.

The Spaniard was also an instrumental figure during the Sky Blues’ unprecedented march to the league title last year under Pep Guardiola as he helped them to a third Premier League title in the last six years.

The 32-year-old announced his retirement from international football earlier in the summer, but he continues to remain a central figure for his club and has vowed to keep playing even after his current contract expires at the Etihad.

Silva also admitted that he would like to play for his local team Las Palmas before calling time on his career, but insisted that he would want to stay in Manchester for the remainder of his contract before making a decision.

"For City, two more seasons – what's left on my contract”, Silva said in an interview for the Premier League Show.

“After that, I don't know. It depends how I feel physically and mentally.

"I've always said that I'd like to play for Las Palmas – my local team.

"But we'll see how things go in two years and take it all from there", he added.

Manchester City will now face newly promoted Fulham at the Etihad on Saturday in their Premier League clash.
