The father of Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina has insisted that Napoli are the ideal club for his son to further flourish.

The 30-year-old Colombian joined Napoli on a season-long loan deal from Arsenal this summer, with the Serie A giants reserving an option to make the move permanent at a later date.

With Arsenal signing Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen, Ospina was pushed further down the pecking order ahead of the new season and he opted to move to Italy.

The goalkeeper has not made the greatest of starts at the San Paolo and has conceded five goals in his first two appearances for the club, but Hernan Ospina, the player’s father, stressed Napoli are the right club for his son.

He insisted that the former Gunner is looking forward to working hard and achieving things at Napoli, where he is feeling happy at the moment.

The goalkeeper’s father told Radio Marte: “I think Napoli will be the ideal team for him.

“He will be playing in a great league and he is looking forward to achieving the goals and [it is ideal] even for his family.

“He says that he is happy in Naples and the city and the team are wonderful, with a real connection with the fans.”

The Gunner, who has made 70 appearances for Arsenal, is expected to start against Fiorentina on Saturday.
