Former Liverpool star David Thompson has insisted that Manchester United would be crazy to let Marcus Rashford leave.

The 20-year-old forward scored for England during the international and it has led to more focus on his game time, or the lack of it, under Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.

Rashford has started only one of their opening four Premier League games and is yet to score a goal for Manchester United this season as Romelu Lukaku continues to be the preferred centre-forward at Old Trafford.

Many believe the young forward will need to leave Manchester United soon in order to play more football and develop further in order to fulfil his potential.

Gareth Southgate has already indicated that his England stars will need to play regularly for their clubs in order to continue to be selected for the Three Lions going forward.

However, Thompson indicated that it would be mad on Manchester United’s part to even consider selling Rashford as the youngster remains a top quality performer.

The former Red took to Twitter and wrote: “Is it me or does everyone else think that Marcus Rashford is top drawer and United letting him go is just nuts?”

Rashford has 32 goals in 126 appearances for the club and has struggled to earn chances to start up top under Mourinho.
