Celtic winger Lewis Morgan has insisted that St Mirren will prove to be a tough challenge for the Bhoys as they will be looking for a reaction and a better performance under their new manager.

The Buddies sacked Alan Stubbs following their disappointing start to the season and the reins in Paisley have been passed on to Oran Kearney, who will lead St Mirren out for their first game under him against Celtic on Friday night.

Bhoys winger Morgan helped St Mirren secure promotion to the Premiership last year when he was loaned back to the Buddies after he signed for Celtic last season on a four-year deal.

The player is expected to undergo a battle when he comes up against his former employers on Friday, when he makes the trip to Paisley with Brendan Rodgers’ men.

Morgan, 21, insisted that it will be a tough challenge for the Scottish champions considering the fact that the hosts will be aiming for a better performance in their first game under the new manager.

“The last manager came in and changed quite a lot”, Morgan told Celtic View.

“I suppose that’s fair enough as different managers have different philosophies, but it didn’t seem to work out for them.

“They’re going to be looking for a reaction now so they’ll be taking that up a notch, and when you play a club like Celtic opponents find another level.

“They have a great support and it is a great club. Hopefully they do well this year but you have to produce things on the pitch to get the fans behind you.

“That’s something the boys at St Mirren will try to do in order to get that good backing they had last year."

Celtic will be aiming to make it three wins in a row in the Premiership with a victory over St Mirren, after winning their previous league games against Hamilton and Rangers, respectively.
