The injury suffered by Chelsea loanee Charly Musonda is not as bad as initially presumed and he will only be out for a month.

The attacking midfielder joined Dutch outfit Vitesse on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea in a last minute deadline day move at the end of last month.

Musonda moved to Celtic on an 18-month loan deal in January, but he failed to make an impact in Scotland and the agreement between the two clubs was terminated at the end of last season.

He played in a behind closed doors friendly for Vitesse against Antwerp during the international break and was expected to play against PEC Zwolle at the weekend.

But he has suffered an injury to his tibia and according to Het Nieuwsblad, the Belgian will be out of action for the next month.

The extent of the injury is not as bad as previously presumed when the initial diagnosis suggested that he could be missing in action for at least a few months.

But Chelsea’s medical team have taken a closer look and it has been determined that he will only be missing a month of football before he returns to action for Vitesse.

Musonda still has a contract until 2022 but has only featured seven times for Chelsea’s first team.
