Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has insisted that the Reds have it in them to maintain their sublime start to the season, even during the busy schedule of fixtures awaiting them in the next few weeks.

Van Dijk was named Liverpool’s Player of the Month for August after he helped the Merseyside outfit to a flawless start to their campaign so far this season.

The Reds have won all four of their Premier League games leading and have conceded just a single goal in the process, making them the best defensive unit in the top flight.

The Dutchman has proved to be an influential figure at the heart of Liverpool’s defence and his leadership qualities have helped to effectively complement his colleagues on the pitch.

Despite entering a tough schedule of seven games in the next 23 days, Van Dijk remains confident that Jurgen Klopp’s men have it in them to maintain their sublime start to the season in the coming weeks.

“I definitely think so. I am very confident in our team and in the players we have”, Van Dijk told the club’s official website.

“We have great depth in the squad, so we should be able to keep the same high standards we want to keep.

“We know it is going to be very hard, but we need to give every game 100 per cent, every day 100 per cent, but I am not worried that it won’t happen”, he added.

Liverpool will face Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley on Saturday in the Premier League before facing all of Paris Saint-Germain, Southampton, Chelsea, Napoli and Manchester City in the next few weeks.
