Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has admitted that he wants teams to have their spirit broken before they even step foot on to the Ibrox pitch.

Gerrard saw his Rangers side see off Dundee 4-0 at Ibrox in a Scottish Premiership game on Saturday.

He was unhappy with what he saw as a lack of control shown by his team, while Gerrard admits that he was keen for the final scoreline to be greater than 4-0.

And the Rangers boss feels Dundee were far from a broken team, explaining he is working towards sides feeling they are beaten before they even play at Ibrox.

"Four-nil is okay but I was wanting more", Gerrard admitted to Rangers TV.

"I’m looking at the big picture and we’ve spoken before about trying to make this place a fortress and trying to make this place where teams like Dundee don’t fancy it and they are beat before they come.

"I still thought at times Dundee actually fancied it and they still had a little bit of joy within it, so if I’m being ultra critical I’m just expecting a bit more.

"Maybe it’s just me."

Rangers have now quickly bounced back from their loss against Celtic before the international break, but face another stiff test on Thursday night when they play Spanish side Villarreal in the Europa League.

Gerrard led Rangers through the qualifiers and into the group stage this summer, meaning mouthwatering European games await.
