Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has insisted that he shares a good relationship with Unai Emery following his side’s 2-1 win over Newcastle United.

Ozil scored in Arsenal’s win over the Magpies at St. James’ Park as the Gunners gradually look to build some momentum under new manager Emery this season.

The German made his 200th appearance for the north London side and he is pleased that he marked it with a goal, which earned three points for Arsenal in the north east of England.

Ozil believes his side showed quality and passion to get the win against a Newcastle side that played well during large parts of the game.

Asked how he feels scoring on his 200th appearance, the German was quoted as saying by the BBC: "Really, 200? I'm happy but most important we take the three points.

“Congratulations to the whole team, we played well. Newcastle were good, aggressive. We showed our passion and took the points.”

There has been speculation over Ozil’s relationship with Emery since the Arsenal manager took him off at the hour mark against Chelsea last month, but the player clarified that he is delighted to play for the new manager and has a good relationship with him.

"I am very happy to play for Arsenal and especially for the new coach.

"He knows what he wants and the team accepts that we have a good relationship.

“We score and we are happy, even the players that don’t play, we are all team."
