Former Manchester United midfielder Jonathan Greening believes it is time for Jose Mourinho to bring Andreas Pereira back into the scheme of things.

An impressive stint during pre-season meant Pereira started the first two league games for Manchester United in a deep midfield role at the start of the campaign.

However, since their defeat to Brighton, the Brazilian has not been part of Manchester United’s matchday squads and Mourinho has said little about him.

With Nemanja Matic suspended for the next league game against Wolves at Old Trafford, it could be an opportunity for Pereira to return to the team and win back his place

And Greening believes the Manchester United manager must look to restore the young midfielder’s confidence and look to bring him back into the fold.

Asked if Pereira should play against Wolves, the former Red Devil said on MUTV: “I would like to see him.

“He had a great pre-season, starting the first couple of games and he was probably amongst the ones who actually did okay against Brighton.

“He has probably been a little unfortunate to get left out and so yes, I would like to see him in the game.

“It would be good to see the manager give him some confidence and bring him back.”

Pereira spent last season on loan at Valencia and was hoping to have a breakthrough campaign at Old Trafford.
