Eunan O'Kane is returning to Leeds United to recover from a broken leg after his loan spell at Luton Town was cut short.

Luton signed the midfielder from Leeds before the transfer window closed on a loan deal running until the start of January.

O'Kane made a positive impression in his handful of appearances for the Hatters, but suffered a broken leg in his side's 1-0 win over Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

Luton have confirmed that he fractured his tibia and fibula and, following surgery, will return to Leeds to commence his rehabilitation.

Luton have wished O'Kane well and said via their official site: "We would like to wish Eunan a speedy recovery and thank him for his efforts during his brief spell at the club, during which he has made a big impression on everyone he has met at Kenilworth Road."

O'Kane will now be looking to quickly recover from his leg break with the help of the medical staff at Elland Road.

The midfielder fell out of favour at Leeds over the summer under new head coach Marcelo Bielsa.

O'Kane's contract at Leeds has a further three years left to run.
