Roma are afraid of losing their sporting director Monchi, who has emerged as a target for Barcelona and Manchester United.

A summer of discontent where Monchi decided to sell Alisson, Radja Nainggolan and Kevin Strootman, has meant the Spaniard finds himself under pressure at the Stadio Olimpico.

The Spanish deal-maker remains a wanted negotiator across Europe and a number of clubs are prepared to pounce on him if he decides to leave Roma in the coming months.

He has a contract until 2021 with Roma and shares a good relationship with club president James Pallotta, but according to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport, the Giallorossi are fearful that they could lose him soon.

Barcelona have set their sights on the ex-Sevilla sporting director and the temptation of returning to his homeland again appeals to the former goalkeeper.

Monchi is also on the radar of Manchester United, who want to appoint the club’s first director of football by the end of the year.

Roma are keen to hold on to him but will not stand in his way if Monchi decides to pack his bags at the Stadio Olimpico in the future.

And the club are afraid that with more tempting projects on offer at Barcelona and Manchester United, the Spaniard could decide to leave.
