Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has claimed that there is no pressure attached to the Whites because of their position in the table as he thinks it is an obligation to win every game in professional football.

The Whites extended their unbeaten start to the Championship season when they earned a late draw away from home against Millwall on Saturday.

Bielsa’s men were handed a lifeline when Jack Harrison grabbed a late equaliser for Leeds at the Den, but the visitors almost conceded again in stoppage time when Tom Elliott’s header stayed out after hitting the inside of the post.

The draw meant that Leeds are now the only team remaining in the Championship yet to taste defeat in their seven games leading up to this point and continue to remain in first place in the table.

Bielsa was asked about the pressure associated with being on top of the table at an early stage of the season and he replied by answering that standings matter very little because he feels it is an obligation to win every time a team plays in professional football.

“From my point of view, I can’t talk for everyone, it’s not a pressure and it’s not something I take as positive”, Bielsa told reporters in a press conference.

“Each game we have the obligation to win in professional football. When you have a good performance people expect things from you.

“I don’t think the position in the table generates pressure or makes things easier. We will always have the obligation to win."

Leeds will face Preston North End, who beat them last month in a second round EFL Cup clash at Elland Road, on Tuesday night in their next league game.
