West Ham United summer signing Xande Silva has revealed that he is trying to catch the eye of Manuel Pellegrini by impressing for the Hammers’ developmental squad in their EFL Trophy opener against Bristol Rovers.

The Portuguese, who joined the club from Vitoria Guimaraes in the summer, netted a hat-trick on his debut for West Ham’s Under-23 squad against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League 2.

Silva’s impressive goalscoring form continued against Manchester City and Arsenal in the following fixtures, albeit for a losing cause, and he has established himself as a threat going forward for the Hammers.

The forward is now aiming to make a positive impact in the EFL Trophy as he prepares to make his debut against League One outfit Bristol Rovers tonight in Group L.

The 21-year-old has revealed that he is trying to catch the eye of first team head coach Pellegrini with his impressive performances to try and earn himself a senior team chance.

“I’m really confident at the moment”, Silva told the club’s official website.

“I’m working hard for the team and I’ve managed to score a few goals from that.

“I want to continue with the good performances and hopefully get myself in the eye of the manager and the first team.

“We are all wanting to perform and get the right results for the U23s first and foremost though, so hopefully we can do that on Tuesday against Bristol Rovers”, he added.

West Ham Under-23s lost to Brighton in their last game outing in the Premier League 2 and are currently in ninth place in the table.
