Inter legend Nicola Berti believes Tottenham Hotspur have the advantage over the Nerazzurri in terms of experience in the Champions League, but rates the Italians as the stronger outfit.

Tottenham have travelled to Italy to take on Inter in the first group game of their Champions League campaign tonight at the Giuseppe Miazza Stadium.

The north London club have been placed in a tough group, which also includes Spanish champions Barcelona and Dutch Eredivisie holders PSV Eindhoven.

The Catalan giants are favourites to go through to the last 16 from the group and therefore the two games between Tottenham and Inter have become even more important.

Berti, who also had a brief spell at Tottenham, believes the Premier League outfit have more experience over Inter when it comes to the Champions League.

However, he believes Inter look a slightly stronger team and despite their league form, could do better in Europe than in Serie A this season.

The Inter legend told Gazzetta dello Sport: “Tottenham are most experienced [compared to Inter] because they have been in the Champions League over the last few years.

“But Inter are slightly stronger.

“I could even add more and say, Inter could be better in the Champions League than in the league.”

The last time the two sides were in the same Champions League group Tottenham defeated Inter 3-1 in north London while getting a 4-3 victory in Italy during the 2010/11 campaign.
