Sheffield Wednesday loanee Josh Onomah has admitted that he feels the move to Hillsborough is the ideal opportunity for him to show Tottenham Hotspur what he can do at senior level.

Onomah, who joined the Owls on a season-long deal on transfer deadline day at the end of last month, made his debut during the side's 2-2 draw against Stoke City on Saturday.

The midfielder came on as a second half substitute and was involved in the thick of the action when Wednesday grabbed their equaliser through Barry Bannan in the 82nd minute.

The 21-year-old spent last season on loan in the Championship with Aston Villa, where he made 33 appearances during their run to the playoff final, but was forced to leave north London again this season as Spurs felt the need for a fresh loan.

The England Under-21 international admitted that the move to Hillsborough is the perfect opportunity for him to learn new things and get enough playing time to show Tottenham what he can do at senior level.

“It's a very important year for me. I'm getting older and I still think I can learn a thing or two”, Onomah told the Star.

"I think this is the next step to showcase myself more on and off the pitch.

"It is to showcase the staff at Tottenham what I'm capable of doing and to get minutes under my belt. I feel I can do that here.

“I want to express myself and what I'm really about”, he added.

Onomah is expected to play an integral role under Jos Luhukay this season at Hillsborough as Wednesday aim to fight for a playoff spot.
