Jamie Barjonas, who is currently on loan at League Two outfit Bury from Rangers, has judged Sadio Mane as a better player than Neymar at present, after the Brazilian’s disappointing outing against Liverpool in the Champions League.

The midfielder joined Bury on loan in the summer from Rangers in a bid to try and secure regular first team football at an important stage in his career.

Barjonas, who is a product of the Gers youth system at Ibrox, made his first start for Bury during their 2-1 loss against Rochdale in the EFL Trophy earlier this month and has been restricted to a single appearance off the bench in League Two so far.

The 19-year-old kept a close eye on Liverpool’s Champions League opener against Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield on Tuesday night and referred to Mane as a better player than Neymar after the game.

“So what we learned from last night is that Sadio Mane is a better player than Neymar”, Barjonas wrote on Twitter.

Barjonas’ former team-mate Josh Windass, who left Rangers to join Wigan in the summer, replied to his tweet by asking if he was drunk, but the midfielder stood firm on his assessment by stressing that the comment was purely based on the two players’ performances.

He added: "Just telling the truth after last night's performance mate."

The midfielder is expected to feature more prominently for Bury as the season progresses and he will be aiming to get enough minutes under his belt to go back to Rangers as a better player.

Bury are currently seventh in the League Two table and will face Carlisle United at home on Saturday.
