Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers insists that his team are not entitled to be in the Champions League and will respect the Europa League and try to go as far as they possibly can.

The Scottish champions will play their first match in the Europa League on Thursday night against Norwegian side Rosenborg at Celtic Park.

It will be the second time Rosenborg will be visiting Glasgow this season after having faced the Bhoys in the Champions League second round qualifiers.

That time around Rodgers' side won the match 3-1 at their home ground, eventually going on to win the tie by the same margin.

Things though did not turn out as planned for the Bhoys in Europe's premier tournament as they were eventually knocked out of the tournament and will now play against Rosenborg in the Europa League.

"It's where we deserve to be, we're not entitled to be in the Champions League, we didn't qualify, as simple as that", Rodgers was quoted as saying by STV.

"We're in the competition we deserve to be in, we respect that and it's our duty to go and get as far as we possibly can."

The Hoops have a busy schedule ahead of them this month and will have to play three more matches, with two of them in the league and one in the Scottish League Cup.
