Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino insists that he will not take risks with any player who is not 100 per cent, even if it would boost Spurs' chances of getting a result.

The Lilywhites are in concerning situation at the moment, having lost three in a row, with two being in the league and one against Inter in the Champions League.

The Lilywhites currently have the likes of Hugo Lloris, Dele Alli and Moussa Sissoko unavailable due to injury, though the Argentine manager insists the need of the hour will not force him to hurry his injured players to first-team action as that is not the policy that he follows.

While Pochettino concedes that an element of risk is always involved when it comes to the game of football, he admits that he will not knowingly take any decision to jeopardise the career of a player.

"No, we’re never going to put ourselves or our interests in front, taking risks with a player. It’s impossible", Pochettino said at a press conference.

"After four years you know very well we’re never going to put a player at risk because we win.

"We need to win and the most important thing is all the players who are going to be on the pitch, we need to feel they’re 100 per cent.

"Of course football, it’s a sport where you always assume risk, but not consciously.

"If you’re conscious you are going to take a risk, it’s impossible for us to take a decision and then something wrong happens when you knew it was a massive risk.”

Tottenham's next game will be against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.
