Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk has stressed that it is a great time to be associated with the Merseyside club due to their ambition and will to compete against some of the best teams in Europe.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have enjoyed their best start to a season since 1961/62 after having won all of their six competitive games so far this season.
The Reds have been termed as early contenders for the league title in England and continued their impressive form against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday when they ran out 3-2 winners at Anfield in the Champions League.
Van Dijk, who has played every single minute of Liverpool’s campaign so far this season, is slowly establishing himself as one of the best defenders in England, if not in Europe, and many feel he has hardly put a foot wrong.
The Dutchman went on to claim that it is a great time for any player to be associated with Liverpool as they are now enjoying their return to the highest level, not just domestically, but also across Europe.
"We want to compete for every competition like we did last year, and we wanted to start well this time”, Van Dijk was quoted as saying by beIN Sports.
“We've had a good start to the season, nothing has been won yet, we need to show it every three days now.
"It's a great time to be a Liverpool player, you want to play these games, you want to play these clubs we are going to face.
“You want to play at the highest level”, the Dutchman added.
Liverpool will next face Southampton at Anfield on Saturday in the Premier League.
