Josh Windass has conceded that he was not happy when Rangers agreed to sell him to Wigan in the summer.

Windass spent two years at Rangers before Steven Gerrard took charge of the club and the Gers decided to sell him once Wigan tabled an offer to sign him during the recently concluded transfer window.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder has established himself in the starting eleven after starting the initial matches on the bench, but he has made his feelings about leaving Rangers clear.

Windass admitted that he was not too pleased when Rangers agreed on a fee with Wigan and believes the club should not have accepted the offer from the Championship outfit.

Speaking to radio station talkSPORT, the midfielder said: It was a strange one.

I was just about to get on the bus before the Maribor game and I got a text from someone I knew saying that Wigan have put a bid in and Rangers have accepted it.

"I don't think it should have been accepted."

The midfielder admits he thinks the Rangers board should have rejected the proposal, but insists he is happy at Wigan.

"I don't think the offer should have been accepted by the board but it is what it is and I'm happy to be where I am now."

Windass started for Rangers on the opening day of the season against Aberdeen and even played a part in their Europa League qualifying games.

He scored 19 goals and provided 13 assists in 73 appearances for the Glasgow giants.
