Rosenborg captain Mike Jensen has admitted that the Norwegian champions can risk a bit more and purely play for points now that they are facing Celtic in the group stage rather than in a knockout game.

Celtic’s meeting against Rosenborg on Thursday night will be the fifth meeting between the two sides in the last 14 months, after squaring off against each other in the Champions League qualification rounds for the last two seasons.

The Bhoys came out on top on both occasions and have enjoyed the upper hand on their counterparts for some time now, albeit with the results coming under different circumstances.

Jensen, who guided Rosenborg to their 25th league title at the end of last season, admitted that the visitors can showcase a different style of play when they step out to play at Celtic Park on Thursday.

The midfielder added that Rosenborg will be without the pressure of playing for an advantage when the two sides meet again in the Europa League group stage and insisted that they can use it as an opportunity to take risks and play for points.

"We've been here before, but it’s different as we are in group stage now”, Jensen told STV.

"There's not as many things to think about like away goal and tactical stuff. We are just coming here to get the points.

“We are coming to get a result. A good result could also be a draw, we are playing for points not for an advantage this time.

"We will press for a goal, we can risk a bit more. We will play for points”, he added.

Celtic have been drawn alongside Rosenborg, RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg in Group B of the Europa League after failing to secure a place in the Champions League this year.
