Eddie Gray has pointed that the Elland Road faithful have become patient with the current Leeds United team because of the performances they have shown this season.

Until the end of last season, Leeds’ recent record at home was patchy and the players were often accused of shrinking when playing under the spotlight in front of the demanding Elland Road faithful.

However, Leeds have looked imperious on their turf this term and have played some terrific football to wow their home supporters under the tutelage of Marcelo Bielsa.

And Gray admits that the players are finally enjoying playing in front of packed crowds at home, compared to in recent seasons when they struggled under the weight of expectations.

He believes the attitude of the home fans has also changed and they are being much more accommodating to the players even when they are under pressure at certain points in games.

The Leeds legend said on LUTV: “With big crowds and Leeds now, the atmosphere is completely different now.

“Big crowds last year, our players could suffer, but now the other night, when Preston started quite well, it didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the crowd.

“They were right behind the team because they can see the effort they are putting in, the way they are playing, the opportunities they are creating, making it difficult for sides when they have the ball.

"And overall the performances have been terrific.”

Leeds will host Garry Monl's Birmingham at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon in front of another sold out crowd.
