Inter are calm regarding the negotiations between the club and the representatives of Manchester United linked defender Milan Skriniar over a new contract.

Skriniar grabbed the headlines with some of his defensive performances last season and several European giants took note and were interested in snaring him away from the Nerazzurri.

It has been claimed that Inter have rejected two big money Premier League offers from Manchester City and Manchester United for Skriniar over the last nine months.

Inter believe that the defender’s value is no less than the €85m fee Liverpool paid to sign Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in January and the club remain keen to tie him down to a new deal.

Negotiations between the two parties have been on hold since the end of last season, but according to Italian daily Tuttosport, Inter are not losing sleep over the talks at the moment.

Skriniar still has a contract until 2022 and there is no release clause in his current deal, making life a little easier for the club’s negotiators.

Inter have offered a new five-year deal worth €2.5m per season, but Skriniar is believed to be asking for money.

The defender’s representatives have demanded a contract worth €3.5m, a figure closer to the €4m Manchester United were prepared to pay to the Slovak in the summer.
