Former Chelsea and Scotland midfielder Craig Burley has admitted that he was impressed by Manchester United’s win over Young Boys on Wednesday, but insisted that the Red Devils are still not favourites in Group H.

Jose Mourinho’s men cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win over Young Boys at the Stade de Suisse in Bern to start their Champions League campaign on the right note.

Paul Pogba opened the scoring with a powerful finish in the 35th minute before adding his second from the penalty spot just nine minutes later to establish a healthy two-goal advantage for the visitors at half-time.

The Red Devils completed a convincing win when Anthony Martial netted their third and final goal on the night in the 66th minute to put the result beyond any doubt.

The win took Manchester United ahead of Juventus on goal difference in their group but Burley insisted that they are still not favourites to finish at the top despite their win.

He also added that the Red Devils will have to fight it out against Valencia and realistically settle for second place behind the Italian champions in Group H.

“It was very professional”, Burley explained on ESPN FC.

“Pogba obviously with a couple of goals, his first one was a super goal. So in terms of a performance away from home in the Champions League, it was excellent.

“I mean it really was and it does look as if you know I think Juventus are the favourites in this group and they should top the group.

“It’s got to be a straight out fight between United and Valencia to take second place”, he added.

Manchester United will face Valencia at home in the Champions League next before welcoming Juventus to Old Trafford later next month.
