Liverpool winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has stressed the importance of remaining positive throughout the long and arduous rehabilitation process as he looks to return from a serious injury.

The England international has been out of action since May this year due to a serious knee injury and is unlikely to play until at least the end of the current campaign.

The former Arsenal man has been left frustrated by the setback, which is expected to keep him out of first-team football for a year, and admits that it has been slow way back for him.

However, he revealed that he is making gradual progress during his rehabilitation process and admits that it is more important that he remains positive and blocks out any negative thoughts.

Oxlade-Chamberlain trusts the medical team tasked with getting him back on track and believes he is receiving good care at Liverpool as he continues to recover from the serious injury.

Asked about his rehabilitation, the winger said on LFC TV: “It’s going well – very boring, very slow and very long – all the good stuff.

“I am making progress, which is obviously what we need and it’s just a long process and we just need to keep plugging away.

“I am in good spirits and I am very positive about it.

“Every day you need to stay as positive as possible, try and block out all the negative thoughts, any ifs and buts and doubts.

“I have got a great team looking after me at the club and I have got full faith in them.

"They know what they are doing and we just keep working hard every day.”

Oxlade-Chamberlain has 43 appearances under his belt for Liverpool and it remains to be seen whether he manages to add to that tally this season.
