Former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino has insisted that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang needs to do more for Arsenal to justify his billing at the Emirates.

Arsenal splashed out the cash in January to sign Gabon striker from Borussia Dortmund in January and he scored ten goals in 13 Premier League appearances last season.

However, he has been more sedate at the start of the current campaign and has netted just once in the league despite starting the opening five games in the Premier League.

The striker scored a brace against FC Vorskla on Thursday night in the Europa League and Cascarino believes Aubameyang is good enough to take the Gunners deep into the competition.

However, he wants to see more from the striker who cost Arsenal £60m in January and believes he must start justifying the money the club paid for him soon.

The former Chelsea striker wrote in the Times: “Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice last night and he is good enough to drive his team to the latter stages of the Europa League.

“He has done OK since joining Arsenal in January but you want more than OK when you spend nearly £60 million.

"In his defence, he arrived with Arsenal in turmoil in the final days of the Arsene Wenger regime, so it was not easy to settle quickly.

“But he does not look fazed when he finds himself in scoring opportunities and always looks like he has goals in him.

“He and Alexandre Lacazette need to justify their transfer fees, while Danny Welbeck can help by pressurising them from the bench.”

Aubameyang is expected to start when Arsenal host Everton at the Emirates on Sunday and the club will be hoping to see him add to his tally of goals.
