Garry Monk has insisted that he has no hard feelings towards the Leeds United fans for their tasty reception, after he visited Elland Road with Birmingham City, and is still hopeful that the club will return to the Premier League.

The former Leeds manager inflicted a first league defeat on the Whites this season when Birmingham produced a shock 2-1 win over Marcelo Bielsa’s side at Elland Road.

Birmingham were winless in the league this season and Leeds were expected to turn them over, but Blues produced dogged performance to get three points from their travels.

Monk again got a hostile reception from the home support on his return but stressed that he doesn’t have any ill feelings towards the fans or the club.

And he is keen to see the Yorkshire giants return to the top tier of English football as soon as possible.

Speaking after the game, the former Leeds boss said: “My memories of the club are proud.

“I hope they get to the Premier League.

"Passionate fans, no hard feelings from my side. That’s all water under the bridge", Monk added.

Monk will be looking for his Birmingham side to build on their win at Leeds, while the Whites still remain top of the Championship table.
