Former Premier League star Chris Sutton has insisted that Manchester United are nowhere close to the levels that Liverpool and Manchester City are at now.

Manchester United came into their meeting with Wolves on Saturday on the back of back-to-back league wins away from home and also defeated Young Boys in their Champions League opener on Wednesday night.

However, the home side struggled to impose themselves on Wolves at Old Trafford and dropped another two points following a 1-1 draw against the newly promoted side.

Sutton feels Wolves were good value for their point and produced a spirited and hardworking performance away from home.

He took to Twitter and said: “Wolves excellent this afternoon.

“Thoroughly deserved point at Old Trafford… Very assured performance.”

Manchester United are now eight and six points behind Liverpool and Manchester City respectively in the league and Sutton feels Jose Mourinho’s men are not going to compete with the two sides at the moment.

“United not in Liverpool and City’s league", he wrote.

Manchester United will be away to West Ham next weekend, but before that, they will host Derby County in an EFL Cup clash on Tuesday night.
