Roma are eyeing a move to appoint former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte if Eusebio Di Francesco cannot stop the rot at the Stadio Olimpico.

Last year's Champions League semi-finalists have taken just five points from their opening five Serie A games and are on a run of five games in all competitions without a win. The crisis deepened at the weekend with a 2-0 loss at Bologna.

Coach Di Francesco is now under serious pressure to turn things around and Roma take on Frosinone on Wednesday before the Rome derby against Lazio at the weekend.

Roma are making plans in the event that Di Francesco has to be sacked and, according to Italian daily La Stampa, have their eye on Conte.

It is unclear if Conte would take the job at Roma as it has been claimed he is still being paid by Chelsea until the end of his contract next summer.

Conte was left angry with the way Chelsea sacked him and was suggested to want to make sure he is paid what he is due from the Blues.

Roma would need to likely come to an arrangement with Conte and Chelsea, to smooth the way for him to take over at the Stadio Olimpico.

Chelsea sacked Conte in the summer and replaced him with countryman Maurizio Sarri.
