Southampton striker Manolo Gabbiadini could consider leaving the club in January if he continues to remain a peripheral figure under Mark Hughes.

The 26-year-old striker has made three substitute appearances for Southampton so far this season and clearly the second choice striker behind Danny Ings at the south coast club.

He decided against leaving the club in the summer transfer window and remains committed to making a name for himself in England, but things could change in the coming months.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato.it, a January window switch could be considered if Gabbiadini continues to receive limited opportunities under Hughes at Southampton.

The former Napoli striker remains a coveted player in Italy and Bologna considered taking him back to the peninsula earlier this year.

If it becomes clear that the striker wants a move in January then Serie A clubs could consider rekindling their interest as they have maintained a good relationship with the player’s representatives.

However, a proposed move still depends on how much football Gabbiadini plays in the coming months at Southampton.

The striker missed a golden opportunity to start against Liverpool in Ings’ absence as he was ruled out due to a hamstring problem.
