Tottenham Hotspur defender Kieran Trippier has revealed that he would love to score a goal against Arsenal and admitted that he is hopeful he can do it this season.

Trippier, who joined Spurs from Burnley in 2015, has quickly established himself as one of the best full-backs in England at the moment and is a regular for both club and country.

The 28-year-old was in the limelight during England’s World Cup exploits in Russia earlier in the summer and was arguably the standout performer in Gareth Southgate’s team over the course of the tournament.

The defender also showcased his astute precision from dead ball situations when he opened the scoring with a sublime free-kick against Croatia in the semi-final of the competition.

Trippier opened his account for the Premier League season in similar fashion when he scored from a free-kick during Tottenham’s 3-1 win over Fulham last month.

The defender, who visited a school to deliver a bag of equipment as part of the PL Primary Stars Kit and Equipment Scheme, answered questions and admitted that he would love to score against Arsenal this season.

"I got some tough questions: who would I rather play for, Tottenham or England? That’s a difficult one”, Trippier told the Premier League’s official website.

"I was asked if I'd love to score against Arsenal.

"Who wouldn't love to score against Arsenal?! Hopefully, that can be this season”, he added.

Tottenham will now face Watford in the third round of the EFL Cup on Wednesday before facing Huddersfield Town away from home on Saturday in the Premier League.
