Arsenal defender Rob Holding has insisted that the Gunners always had the quality up front to win against Watford, once they stood up to the physical tests.

A Craig Cathcart own goal in the 81st minute and another goal from Mesut Ozil just two minutes later earned Arsenal a hard-earned 2-0 win over Watford at the Emirates.

Watford created a few good chances in the second half, but a few good saves from Bernd Leno and resolute defending from the home side helped Arsenal to keep the game on an even keel going into the final ten minutes.

Holding stressed that it was important that Arsenal stood up to the physicality of the Watford side as they always had the resources in attack to score the goals when needed.

The Arsenal defender told the Premier League Productions: "We knew it would be a battle. It always is when you're up against Troy Deeney!

"We stood up to the battle and though we were tired late on we got those two goals.

"As long as we matched them physically, we have the players who could get the goals.”

Holding also stressed the importance of getting one more clean sheet and admits that Unai Emery is looking to instil a winning mentality into the squad at the moment.

"Another clean sheet. It's nice to get that and keep that run going. The manager said he wanted to bring in a winning mentality.

“We go into each game confident. We're physically fit and we know we can get a result."
