Eddie Gray has picked out Mateusz Klich as the revelation for Leeds United this season with his performances from midfield.

Klich joined Leeds last year, but poor performances meant the midfielder was loaned out to FC Utrecht for the latter half of last season in the January window.

The Pole was expected to be shipped out again in the summer, but he got a chance to prove his worth to new manager Marcelo Bielsa during pre-season.

And an injury to Adam Forshaw meant Klich got his opportunity at the start of the campaign and the midfielder has not looked back, as he sealed his place in the starting eleven.

The Pole has played a key role with his forward runs and has contributed with goals this season, which Gray feels is a direct result of his willingness to run beyond the attackers.

The Leeds legend feels Klich has been the surprise revelation of the season as not many expected him to perform at such levels after last year.

Gray said on LUTV: “A lot of that [runs inside the box] is due to the energy he shows.

“One minute he’s back in our box, the next minute he is beyond people and getting inside the opposition box.

“There’s a goal he scored this season, where it ricocheted after the goalkeeper saved it and he was there to tuck it in the back of the net.

“He has been the revelation so far this season from what we have seen.

“We know how Pablo [Hernandez] and [Samu] Saiz can play but he’s been the man who is part of the jigsaw.”

The 28-year-old has scored four goals and provided three assists in 12 Championship appearances this season.
