Chelsea have no interest in letting Emerson Palmieri leave the club in January despite interest from Serie A clubs.

The former Roma defender joined Chelsea in January this year, but has strictly been a fringe player at Stamford Bridge since his arrival.

This season he has been limited to playing in the Europa League and the EFL Cup, and has not made his way into a single matchday squad for Chelsea in the Premier League.

Ahead of the winter window, his future at Chelsea has come under the scanner because of his limited game time and interest from clubs in Italy such as AC Milan and Inter.

But according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.com, Chelsea are not going to consider any offers for Emerson during the January transfer window.

Maurizio Sarri has decided against tinkering with his defence in the Premier League, which has resulted in Marcos Alonso playing regularly as the left-back.

However, Emerson remains the only back-up to the Spaniard in the squad and Sarri has no intention of weakening his squad ahead of the busy schedule in the second half of the season.

Therefore, despite his lack of game time, the defender is likely to be at Chelsea when the January window shuts down.
