West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini will not be drawn on which Manchester City player he would like in his squad, after the Citizens beat his team 4-0 at the London Stadium, and insists his men showed personality.

It took just eleven minutes for West Ham to fall behind when Raheem Sterling's deflected cross fell into David Silva's path and he made no mistake, putting Manchester City 1-0 up.

In the 19th minute it was 2-0, this time Sterling getting on the scoresheet when he got on the end of a low cross from Leroy Sane and tapped the ball into the net.

The champions were 3-0 up in the 34th minute, Sane then scoring as Sterling turned provider with a superb volleyed cross.

With Manchester City on top, some West Ham fans chose to head for the exit even before half time.

The Citizens waited until injury time to add a fourth, with Sane scoring his second of the game.

Pellegrini insists he is happy with how his team continued to play and work hard, even at 3-0 down.

He told his post match press conference: "We were not intimidated. The best thing we did today was that we have continued to play the way we have done before.

"It is not easy when you are losing 3-0.

"We showed personality to play and do the same from the first minute to the end.

"Sometimes you can give up at 3-0 down, we didn’t", he added.

The West Ham boss also would not be drawn on which player he would most like to have from Manchester City, replying: "I am happy with the players I have at West Ham, trying to improve in every week.

"We are going to improve more playing this way."
