Manchester United legend Lou Macari has conceded that Jose Mourinho’s men don’t even look like being capable of bridging the gap between themselves and rivals Manchester City and Liverpool.

Mourinho’s side produced another shocking performance on Saturday at home as they limped to a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace, who had chances to take maximum points as well.

Manchester City and Liverpool won their respective games by convincing margins and are miles ahead of Manchester United, who are languishing in mid-table at the moment.

Mourinho has more or less conceded that his men are fighting for top four at the moment and they face a battle to secure Champions League football.

However, Macari is more worried about the growing gap between Manchester United and the top two and admits that at the moment, they don’t even look like a team who could try and get close to Manchester City and Liverpool.

The Manchester United legend said on MUTV: “You can see that they know what they are doing.

“The players are in right positions, it’s free-flowing football and that’s certainly not us.

“It’s worrying me that we don’t look that, the gap we have got to bridge, between the way we are playing now and the way the other two are playing, that we are capable of doing it.”

Manchester United are currently equidistant to both league leaders Manchester City and bottom-placed club Huddersfield in terms of points.
