Inter legend and club vice-president Javier Zanetti believes a positive result against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night would be a huge boost for the Nerazzurri.

The Serie A giants beat Tottenham with two late goals at the San Siro earlier this season to get their Champions League campaign off to a great start.

Tottenham need to win their last two games to reach the last 16 of the competition and are keen to right the wrongs of their defeat to Inter in Italy.

However, Inter are also coming to England with huge hopes and are aware that a result at Wembley could send them into the knockout rounds of the premier European club competition.

Inter legend Zanetti admits that it will be a tough game and believes Tottenham’s win over Chelsea on Saturday was a mark of the quality they possess.

But he stressed that Inter are ready to take up the challenge of facing Tottenham and admits a positive result at Wembley would be a huge fillip for Inter, who returned to the Champions League this season after a few years.

Zanetti was quoted as saying by Italian outlet Tutto Mercato: “It will be a difficult game.

“Tottenham are a great team and deservedly won against Chelsea.

"On Wednesday I will be with the team.”

He added: “It will be difficult but we’ll be ready because a positive result will mean a lot for us.”

Inter currently sit third in Serie A.
