Rangers defender Jon Flanagan has admitted that it feels great to have enjoyed so much first team football with the Gers this season and says that he is enjoying football in Scotland.

Flanagan, who made the switch to the Scottish Premiership with Rangers in the summer, has already started 18 games across all competitions under Steven Gerrard this term.

The full-back struggled for playing time at Liverpool and while on loan at Bolton Wanderers in the Championship last season and is now enjoying regular first team football at Ibrox.

Flanagan admitted that it feels great to have enjoyed so much playing time during the first half of the season in Scotland with Rangers and insisted that he is enjoying football now.

“Definitely, yes [it has been very pleasing to start 18 games for Rangers]”, Flanagan told Rangers TV.

“I think the aim here for me was to come and play and win as many games as possible for Rangers.

“In the past few seasons, I haven’t really set down a marker and been consistent with my game time.

“So to come here and start getting games so far, it’s been great and we’re only in early November.

“So to start getting games, more or less half season, is great and I’m just enjoying my football here.”

Flanagan came on as second half substitute during the win over Livingston on Saturday and is expected to be fresh and ready to feature against Villarreal in the Europa League clash at Ibrox on Thursday.
