Manchester City outcast Eliaquim Mangala has emerged as a possible summer transfer target for Inter.

The defender was forced to continue at Manchester City due to a knee injury he suffered in March and only returned to football earlier this month with a 45-minute stint with the Under-23 side.

The Frenchman is yet to make a matchday squad for Manchester City this season and is not in Pep Guardiola’s plans moving into the future.

His contract with the club expires at the end of the season and he is available on a free transfer this summer.

And according to Italian daily Tuttosport, he is one of the defenders who are on Inter’s shortlist of targets at the end of the campaign.

Mangala was also on Inter’s radar when he left Porto for Manchester City in 2014 and the club are considering the possibility of picking him up on a free transfer next summer.

He is still only 27 and Inter believe that on a free transfer, signing Mangala would be a calculated gamble.

It remains to be seen whether the Frenchman gets an opportunity to play for Manchester City this season.
