Pep Guardiola has dubbed Lyon one of the toughest sides he has ever faced after Manchester City drew 2-2 in the Champions League in France.

Lyon pushed Manchester City hard in the opening 45 minutes, dominating the Premier League champions and on the stroke of half time hit the crossbar.

Les Gones continued to press for a goal in the second half and got their rewards in the 55th minute, with Maxwel Cornet hitting a curled effort into the top corner, beating Citizens goalkeeper Ederson.

The Citizens fought back however and drew level just after the hour mark with Aymeric Laporte getting on a David Silva flick-on from a Raheem Sterling free-kick to power in a header.

But Lyon were not letting up in search of the win and Cornet struck again in the 80th minute after getting on the end of a superb pass from Memphis Depay.

The lead though did not last long and just three minutes later Sergio Aguero drew Manchester City level, getting on the end of a corner from Riyad Mahrez.
