Celtic midfielder Callum McGregor has admitted that the Bhoys cannot afford to think Rosenborg will be focusing more on their Norwegian Cup final during the Europa League clash on Thursday.

Brendan Rogders’ men will face Rosenborg in Trondheim when they return to action in the Europa League with the intention of pushing for a berth in the knockout stages of the competition.

The Bhoys are in desperate need of a win against the Norwegian champions if they are to push RB Leipzig for a second-placed finish from Group B, behind Red Bull Salzburg.

Both teams are set to play in domestic cup finals on Sunday, with Rosenborg going up against Stromsgodset, while Celtic are set to entertain Aberdeen at Hampden Park in the Scottish League Cup final.

However, McGregor admitted that Celtic cannot afford to think Rosenborg will be focusing more on their cup final during the game on Thursday, especially considering the fact that they have nothing to play for in the Europa League.

McGregor also added that Rini Coolen’s men are a quality side and insisted Celtic have to take it as one game at a time if they are to extend their active involvement in Europe.

“They’re a good side with a good squad”, McGregor said in a press conference.

“They maybe have one eye on their final but it’s down to us to prepare properly. It doesn’t really matter in terms of what team they go for.

“The cup finals take care of themselves. First and foremost, it’s up to us to come here, be positive and try to get a result.

"It’s important for us to take one game at a time."

Celtic will be aiming to replicate their scintillating form in the Scottish Premiership when they face Rosenborg in a crucial European game away from home on Thursday.
