Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes Liverpool lacked energy and speed against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Liverpool suffered a 2-1 defeat at PSG and it has left them with no choice but to win their last game on 11th December when they will host Napoli at Anfield.

Other than James Milner’s successful penalty in the first half, Liverpool did not have a single shot on target in the 90 minutes and their attacked lacked inspiration on the night.

Wenger was unimpressed with what he saw from his former rivals at Arsenal and felt they lacked pace and incisiveness to open up the PSG defence on Wednesday night.

He added that the PSG defenders were never put under any sort of pressure from the famed Liverpool attack.

The Frenchman was quoted as saying by French sports daily L’Equipe: “Honestly, they didn’t impress me.

“They lacked energy and speed.

“Liverpool pushed a lot but they lacked solidity at the back.

"They didn’t do enough to put the PSG defence under pressure.

“PSG had everything in terms of motivation.”

Liverpool are still in control of their own destiny but are hoping that their home form will eventually take them to the Champions League last 16.
