Arsenal manager Unai Emery feels the Gunners are still some way behind the top two sides in the Premier League, Manchester City and Liverpool.

The Gunners are on a 12-game unbeaten run in the league after losing their opening two games of the season and beat Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday to climb back into the top four.

Emery’s side were outside contenders for a place in the top four, but have done well to stay within touching distance of the top two sides.

The Spaniard, however, believes that the club are challenging Chelsea and Tottenham for a top-four place and not Liverpool and Manchester City, who are the only two unbeaten sides remaining in the Premier League this season.

“At the moment, one thing is clear: some teams have an advantage [over] us”, Emery told a press conference ahead of his side’s visit to Old Trafford.

“One is very clear, it’s Manchester City.

“The difference between their points and our points.

“But also for the goals and conceding goals, there’s a big difference to us.

“Another difference [is] between Liverpool and our moments [which are] not very big, but I think it’s an important difference also.

“With the performances, with the points, with the goals scored and conceded, we are the same as Chelsea and Tottenham – that’s the reality."

Arsenal are only behind Manchester City when it comes to goals scored, but have conceded 18 times already this season, the highest among the current top six sides in the Premier League table.

Emery’s side have a tough clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford coming up on Wednesday.
