AC Milan are engaged in contract talks with the representatives of Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas with a view to signing him in the January transfer window.

The Spaniard is out of contract in the summer and has already indicated that he will start listening to offers from potential suitors from January.

Fabregas has said that he expects to leave Chelsea in the summer on a free transfer, but AC Milan are keen to do a deal earlier and want him during the winter window.

According to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, the Serie A giants have been in talks with Fabregas’ entourage over a proposed contract for the midfielder.

It has been claimed that both sides have already agreed on the duration of the contract and a two-and-a-half-year deal is said to be in the works.

There is still some distance between the two sides when it comes to the terms of the deal and Fabregas' wage demands are high at the moment.

AC Milan are waiting on their Financial Fair Play report before making any commitments to the midfielder, but they want to sign him in January.

The Rossoneri are confident that if they can agree on a contract with Fabregas, they will be able to reach an agreement with Chelsea to take him to Italy next month.
