Chelsea have ruled out the possibility of selling centre-back Andreas Christensen in January despite interest from Serie A giants AC Milan.

The 22-year-old defender has not played a single minute of Premier League football this season due to Maurizio Sarri’s reluctance to tinker with a settled back-four at Stamford Bridge.

Christensen has only featured in the Europa League and the EFL Cup and it has led to speculation over his future at Chelsea, with AC Milan keen to take him to Italy in January.

The Dane has reportedly emerged as the Rossoneri’s top defensive target, but the Serie A giants are expected to face a steep challenge in convincing Chelsea to let Christensen leave.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato.com, the west London club are in no mood to lose the player and only a silly offer could change their mind about letting the defender go.

Chelsea are already expecting Gary Cahill to leave the club in January and Sarri is not keen to let one more defender leave, which would limit his options at the back in the latter half of the season.

Christensen is keen to play more football but for the moment he is not willing to push his way out of Chelsea.

It remains to be seen whether AC Milan look to press forward with their attempt to get the Dane despite Chelsea’s reluctance.
